Blood Free Episode 9 Recap:

The episode unfolds with Chae Woon having a crucial meeting with Geon-u’s ex-wife. As they delve into a conversation, the ex-wife discloses a startling revelation to Chae Woon. She tells him that she checked Geon-u’s phone before the AZORAN incident, which revealed alarming searches related to explosives. Geon-u’s ex-wife stresses that Seon-u didn’t believe her despite being informed. The gravity of the situation hits hard when Mingyu verifies Chae Woon’s suspicions, sending him reeling into a state of shock, ultimately leading to Mingyu’s hospitalization. Seon-u meets with Mingyu in the hospital and asks if he wants revenge, but Mingyu asks Seon-u to sweep it under the rug and ask Chae Woon to forget about it.

On San and Chae Woon gather evidence

On San visits the stock broker’s (who fell on Ja Yoo’s car) family and is met by the man’s sister. The woman is annoyed and remains cold toward On San. On San asks about Jung, but the woman starts speaking after seeing Park Sangmin’s picture. Park Sangmin used the cover of being a pastor to get close to the stock broker and convince him to kill himself. The woman gives Park Sangmin’s address, and On San visits the house. The house is empty, but On San calls the police.

Meanwhile, Chae Woon visits Kir in prison, who refuses to meet with Chae Woon. However, Chae Woon sends a note with the words, ‘I know who you should be afraid of.’ Reading the note, Kir decides to meet Chae Woon. Chae Woon lays out information and asks if he knows Geon-u was behind the AZORAN attacks. Kir reveals that he was forced to take the fall for the attacks as his family’s life was in danger. The person who forced him to do it was his cousin, and the only thing Kir’s cousin revealed was that the order came from a powerful and wealthy man in Korea. Chae Woon recorded the conversation and promised Kir he would only use it once he consented.

Jung is hospitalised

Mr. Seo and Ms. Hong visited Jung, who had not been breathing for over four minutes. Mr. Seo makes a decision to release her, but Jung has a plastic spoon in her hand, and she holds Hong hostage to escape the Blood Free building. Jung pushes Hong inside a car and asks her to speed up. Mr. Seo chases them and blocks the main gate of the building. Hong is saved as she is pushed out of the car. However, Jung hits the gates and is unconscious. Amidst the chaos, On San takes charge, orchestrating a strategic move to stall Ja Yoo’s impending surgery. Upon reaching the hospital, On San realizes that Jung had the plastic spoon because of him.

Seon-u and Ja Yoo plan the next course of action

On San meets with Ja Yoo and asks her to publicly state that she will postpone the surgery and is hiring a new research director. On San informs Ja Yoo about the progress in catching the killer. The police identified the fingerprints, but the faces did not match. The person’s name, according to the police, is a 39-year-old man called Ji Sunwon (AKA Park Sangmin), and DORSAN is behind the killing. Chae Woon comes to Ja Yoo with news as well.

Chae Woon reveals that AZORAN was the act of DORSAN as well. Seon-u and Geon-u meet to discuss the next course of action, but Geon-u is nervous. Subsequently, Seon-u makes a deal. Seon-u asks his father if he can bring samples of all sorts of organs from Blood Free that can help DORSAN replicate them. Geon-u tells him they have to replicate as they have no choice. Seon-u understands the situation and leaves. However, Seon-u’s silence makes Ja Yoo, On San, and Chae Woon wonder about his true intentions.

Chae Woon reveals about Kir’s cousin, and Ja Yoo arranges for him to leave for Dubai immediately to meet with the man for more information. Chae Woon also makes Ja Yoo promise not to proceed with the surgery until he returns. Ja Yoo arranges for the best organ transplant surgeons from across the best hospitals to visit Blood Free. Mr. Seo is thrilled with the idea. Seon-u is informed about Chae Woon’s visit to Dubai and decides to have a search and seizure immediately on Blood Free. Seon-u is succeeding in his plans as the Blood Free’s system is hacked.

Blood Free (Season 1 Finale), Episode 10 Recap:

The episode starts with a captivating scene as the top organ transplant doctors marvel at the competency of Blood Free. They’re instructed to input detailed data and videos of their surgeries into Blood Free’s system to prevent errors. Meanwhile, On San contemplates resigning while Ja Yoo hatches a plan to confront Ji Sunwon solo. Ja Yoo sends a voice message asking Ji Sunwon to meet her and warns her that DORSAN will kill and dispose of his body if they catch him. Ji Sunwon is faced with precisely what Ja Yoo predicted. Since Ji Sunwon was prepared, he fights with DORSAN’s bodyguards and flees. The first thing Ji Sunwon does is to call Ja Yoo and ask her to meet him.

Ja Yoo’s life is in danger

Ja Yoo finds Ji Suwon in a critical condition. Ji Suwon asks Ja Yoo to save him by taking him to Blood Free. Ja Yoo agrees, and they leave the parking lot, but DORSAN’s men push their car off the building. Geon-u wants to destroy any evidence leading to his downfall. However, Ja Yoo and Ji Sunwon are brought to Blood Free by helicopter. The top organ transplant doctors are put to work despite the Blood Free system not having enough data. On the other hand, Blood Free’s system is completely hacked. To add fuel to the misery, the search and seizure team is ready for their task at Blood Free. Unfortunately for Blood Free’s employees, the system is not working, and a different team dressed in black climbs down the roof of the building to steal Blood Free’s data.

Chae Woon to the rescue

Chae Woon arrives in time and notices that Blood Free is in danger. He enters the building and fights these men. Despite sustaining injuries, he heroically defends Blood Free against the intruders. Nonetheless, his efforts are cut short when Mr. Seo is held at gunpoint, forcing Chae Woon to yield. Chae Woon enters the lab and finds Ja Yoo getting surgery. Ji Sunwon pretends to be unconscious, but when one of the men gets near him, he attacks. Chae Woon takes this opportunity to fight two men while Mr.Seo and a doctor fight the others. Chae Woon falls to the ground because of his injuries.

Geon-u is in trouble

Blood Free (Season 1 Finale) Episodes 9 & 10: Recap & Ending Explained– Will Seon-u Resign as the Prime Minister? (2)

Seon-u is informed about the incident in Blood Free and agrees to interview for a news channel that is critical of the government. Seon-u goes on record and protects his father, saying the rumors about Geon-u being a terrorist are false and Blood Free spread it, and if he does not receive an apology from them, defamation won’t be the only lawsuit they will have to face. The news anchor plays an audio recording between Jung and Geon-u. In the audio recording, it is evident that Geon-u is behind the attack on Blood Free employees. The news anchor then reveals that Jung’s voice is created by AI and Geon-u’s voice is authentic.

Seon-u acts like he is upset but smirks as his dreams are fulfilled. Seon-u apologizes to the public and reveals that it is proved that Geon-u was behind the AZORAN attack upon investigation. Geon-u tries to win his ex-wife’s sympathy, but it makes no difference. However, Mingyu overhears the conversation and wonders if Seon-u knew who was behind the AZORAN attack all along. Seon-u visits Geon-u, who also confessed to the North American attacks on Ja Yoo. Seon-u asks Geon-u to spend a few years in jail, and he will take the position of chairman of DORSAN. Despite everything, Seon-u promises to help Geon-u live forever.

Blood Free (Season 1 Finale), Episode 10 Ending Explained:

Will Seon-u resign as the Prime Minister?

On the other hand, Jung has lost her memory, but she is receiving psychiatric treatment to help with it. On San visits her and informs her that Blood Free won’t be watching her anymore, but she should be careful to avoid ending up like Shin-Gu or others. Jung only hopes to regain her memory, hoping she has led an ordinary and boring life. Seon-u steps down as the Prime Minister and takes over DORSAN.

Seon-u is successful in getting research and data from Blood Free. On San is speaking on behalf of Blood Free now as people speculate if Ja Yoo is dead. On San does not reveal any information. However, On San finds photographs that Chae Woon left behind as Kir’s cousin was found. Seon-u is informed that Ja Yoo is dead. However, he does not seem remorseful. In the last scene of the series, we hear Ja Yoo asking the AI where she is, and simultaneously, Chae Woon opens his eyes.

The season 1 finale of “Blood Free” throws everything at the wall, leaving viewers with more questions than answers. While Seon-u achieves his goal of acquiring data on cultured organs, there are more questions. Was Blood Free one step ahead? Did they tamper with the information at the last minute? Ja Yoo and Chae Woon’s fate is revealed partially as well. We only get a glimpse of what could be as we hear Ja Yoo and watch Chae Woon in the flesh. On San seems to be a spokesperson for Blood Free.

We are unsure what happened to Mr. Seo and Ms. Hong. Unfortunately, Seon-u does not pay for his crimes and is living as conveniently as ever. Minguye’s discovery of Seon-u’s knowledge about AZORAN adds another layer of intrigue, but the story abruptly cuts off before this revelation can be explored. This open-ended finale, while intriguing, leaves a sense of dissatisfaction. The rushed writing in the final episode fails to provide closure for the storylines.
